DJ mania hits Mumbaikars
If you have a penchant for partying and a taste for music that sets the feet tapping, you are the perfect student for DJ schools.

Mumbai: For students Nikhil Bhatt and Kunal Karvir ?students of Beat Mappers, the latest Disc Jockey school to open in the Mumbai ? this is one class they wouldn?t want to miss.

They are one among the many Mumbaikars who are now learning how to scratch and mix music tracks.

Most DJ schools in Mumbai offer courses for Rs 15,000 a month.

It may seem steep, but with the students being exposed to different kinds of music and world class equipment, the charges are bound to be high.

Emphasising the need for DJ schools, Joe Azaredo, owner, Azaredo DJ Acdemy says, "Anybody who thinks that DJ-ing is only about music is slightly wrong. It?s a blend of maths, physics and the science of sounds. It involves going deep into the parameters of the equipment one are learning."

With the party scene in the city picking up, the scope and money in ?DJ-ing? is also on the rise. DJs can now rake up as much as Rs 30,000 and above per month.

However, there are some who still skeptical about considering it a full-fledged carreer option.

Tanushree Mulraj Student, Azaredo DJ Acdemy says, "I'm not looking at it as a career option. I just wanted to play music at a few private parties."

Popular Television VJ and a DJ himself, Nikhil Chinnappa Television says,"I agree that the DJ schools have the right kind of equipment to practise, but nobody can teach you how to be a good DJ."

You can be taught to drive, but if you want to be like Michael Schumacher its an entirely different ball game, he says.

What's your reaction?
