Doc allegedly rapes patient while she was unconscious

New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a doctor in his clinic in east Delhi when she went there for treatment, police said.

The woman, a sales representative with a pharmaceutical company, had gone to the clinic run by Dr Azad in Trilokpuri with her husband after she felt dizziness.

Azad told the couple that she needed to be given glucose as she was in a semi-conscious state. He also allegedly asked the husband to go for lunch and come back after sometime besides assuring him that she will be alright.

After the husband left the clinic, the doctor allegedly raped the woman in her semi-conscious state. The incident came to light when the husband came back to the clinic and caught the doctor red-handed.

The husband then confronted the doctor who allegedly threatened the man. However, when the husband started calling the police, the doctor fled the clinic.

The woman was then taken to a nearby hospital where a medical examination confirmed rape.

There was no one else present in the clinic when the incident took place. A case has been registered.
