BANGALORE: Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje called upon the Arya Vysya community to make a significant presence in politics, at a function organised by Sri Kasi Annapurna Vasavi Arya Vysya Vrudhashramam and Nityannasatram here on Sunday. “Members from Arya Vysya community should take part in politics at various levels- ward, taluk or district. That is the only way to build a community,” Karandlaje said. She further discarded the idea of stereotyping Arya Vysyas as shopkeepers. “Tamil Nadu Governor Rosaiah has showed that if you set your mind, you can even become the CM of a state,”she said, referring to the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister.Rosaiah, who belongs to the Arya Vysya community, stressed on the need for education within the community. “Education is the key to growth and progress,” Rosaiah said on the occasion. Educationist M K Pandurang Setty, president, Rashtriya Shikshana Samiti Trust and founder of NMKRV College was present. Other noted personalities from the community such as Manandi Nanjunda Setty, Kacham Ramaiah and M Prabhakara Gupta were among those who took part in the programme.
