Engineering entrance: CBSE, ICSE schools seek justice

The Kerala Federation of CBSE and ICSE Schools has demanded action against the denial of justice to the CBSE and ICSE students in the engineering entrance examination held this year. The government norms were flouted by the expert committee, alleged the federation.

The 50:50 ratio for the consideration of entrance examination and board examination marks, and the standardisation and normalisation procedure favoured the students under the state syllabus. They demanded that the issue should be investigated and stringent action taken.

Contrary to the government announcements, students under the state syllabus were favoured by the procedures, enabling them to top the rank list, the federation alleged.

The authorities had promised to resolve the normalisation issue this year.

But the situation has been made much worse, with the CBSE and ICSE  students cheated of their due positions in the rank list.

If the government authorities fail to take due action, the CBSE, and ICSE schools would be forced to bring the injustice to light either legally or through demonstrations, said T P M Ibrahim Khan, chairman, Kerala Federation of CBSE and ICSE Schools.

Regarding the building tax exemption for the CBSE and ICSE schools, they said though the government had promised to take measures including the amendment of  laws, some municipalities and panchayats were harassing the school authorities for the payment of taxes.

The government should be ready to solve the issue, he said.
