Paris: France is planning to ban prostitution and the Government has decided to bring a law to do so. The bill to ban prostitution will be introduced in France's lower house National Assembly on December 6.
Guy Geoffroy of the ruling UMP party claimed that the resolution to outlaw prostitution has been signed by officials of all political groups in the National Assembly.
Even though prostitution is not illegal in France but many other activities like soliciting, procuring and operating a brothel, while paying for sex with someone under the age of 18 is banned.
France has 20,000 prostitutes and several of them are protesting in front of the National Assembly. According to some reports almost 80 per cent of the prostitutes in France are women while 99 per cent of clients are men.
