HYDERABAD: Three brothers who were in possession of more than 110 kg of marijuana were arrested by excise officials Tuesday.Another sibling of the trio and their father, who too are allegedly drug peddlers, fled when excise officials raided the house.Acting on a tipoff, excise officials raided the house of Mande Ganesh Singh alias Ganna at Kalidaspura in Langer Houz on Monday evening.During the raid, the personnel seized 113.57 kg of dry ganja from the house.Three brothers, M Rumesh Singh, 27, Pinkesh Singh, 24, and Jitender Singh, 22, were arrested.Assistant commissioner of prohibition and excise A V V Satyanarayana Murthy said Ganesh Singh and his eldest son, Dharam Singh, fled from the house before the raid but a special team has been set up to nab them.The accused have allegedly confessed during interrogation that the father-son gang bought ganja at `800 per kg in Warangal district and would sell it to youngsters and rag-pickers at several places in the city including Shaikpet, Bhojagutta, Outer Ring Road and the Old City for `3,000 per kg or Rs 30 for a packet of 10 gm.Excise officials said the value of the seized contraband would be `3.50 lakh.The detainees and the seized contraband were handed over to the Golconda excise police for futher action.A case has been registered under Section 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
