CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Traffic police on Thursday directed vehicle users in the city to remove dark film pasted on the windows of four-wheelers. The move follows the Supreme Court’s order banning the use of dark film on vehicle windows in response to a writ petition. The order came into force on May 5.Quoting the SC order, a press release from the Chennai Traffic Police said all vehicle users who have dark film pasted on their vehicle must remove them at once. Competent officials in the Traffic Police will fine vehicles users if Rules 92 and 100 are violated, and shall remove the dark film from the offending vehicles. For such offence, the fine amount shall be Rs 100 for a first time offence and Rs 300 for a second offence.
