KHAMMAM: The Bhadrachalam Sri Rama temple officials have been making efforts to gold-plate the doors of the main temple at a cost of Rs 48.5 lakh.According to temple officials, gold-plating would be taken up as part of temple development work as has been done in Tirumala.Three experts in gold-plating were brought in from Chennai to estimate the cost and design.Their proposals have been sent to the endowments commissioner for approval.Temple executive officer Azad said that they are seeking donors’ assistance to bear the expenditure of the gold-plating. Some donors have come forward to donate `10 lakh.Besides, a foot-overbridge is being built outside the temple which has 2 queues on it - one each for VIPs and devotees. This would avoid stalling of devotees during VIP darshans.The bridge would be inaugurated by July end. The bridge’s estimated cost is `25 lakh.
