Gurgaon: The Gurgaon Police claims to have solved the death case of a 17-year-old girl whose decomposed body was found inside a toolbox in a bus earlier this week. The girl's father and cousin have been arrested in a suspected case of honour killing.
The post-mortem report had suggested strangulation as the cause of the girl's death. The girl's father, along with a relative, murdered his daughter by strangulating her after beating her on August 19, Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said. The accused told police that his daughter used to talk on mobile phone frequently.
On the night of August 18, she was speaking to someone when her father got angry and beat her. Afterwards, he along with the cousin took liquor and strangulated the girl at about 4 am on August 19, Mittal said.
After committing the crime, they dumped the dead body in the tool box of a school bus which was parked on a ground in Sector 5, he said. The driver of the bus came to know about the dead body on August 21 when he noticed foul smell emanating from the tool box, he said, adding that police lodged FIR against unknown persons and started its investigation.
The police doubted the girl's statement after he identified the dead body and later arrested him and his accomplice for committing the crime, Mittal said.
