In order to boost tourism in the state, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has stressed on the participation of private players and asked officials to prepare solid plans for the same.
Reviewing the progress of tourism department at a meeting on Saturday, Rawat discussed the setting up of a three member single window system to encourage entrepreneurs in the sector.
He also stressed on promotion and propagation of tourism related plans and approved Rs 20 crore for the same.
The Chief Minister directed that plans be made for the provision of helicopter-tourism of the Himalayan range in the state for tourists from across the country and the world.
A Gangotri trekking route development board should be set up for hikers and trekkers, he said.
Rawat also said that the Mussorie-Rajpur road would be made two lane to allow Volvo vehicles to run smoothly. A bus station would also be set up on Rajpur road for smooth flow of traffic.
The Chief Minister also directed for the setting up of an infrastructure board under the tourism department which would work for the development of tourism of the state on a national and international level.
Rawat also said that tax cuts for tourism operators during off-season would be considered.
