BANGALORE: The High Court, on Monday, reserved orders on the bail pleas filed by former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his son Katta Jagdish and former managing director of Itasca S V Srinivas till Tuesday. The single bench of Justice V Jagannathan commenced the dictation of the orders in the open court. However, due to lack of time, the judge posted the delivery of judgment to Tuesday.Earlier during arguments, M T Nanaiah, special public prosecutor appearing for the Lokayukta, objected to the bail petitions, citing the 2G spectrum case in which the Delhi HC and the Supreme Court rejected Kanimozhi’s bail plea considering the gravity of the offence.Nanaiah said, “In the present case involving Katta Subramanya Naidu and others, the scam involves Rs 111 crore and is an equally serious case and if the accused are let on bail, they could influence witnesses and even tamper with the evidence.”Meanwhile, senior counsel C V Nagesh and Ravi B Naik, appearing for the petitioners, argued that the proposal of Itasca compnay was cleared by a high-level committee headed by the then chief minister in 2006 and the act of conspiracy did not arise in the matter."The prosecution has filed the charge-sheet and it is almost based on documentary evidence. Hence granting of bail to the accused will have no bearing on the allegations that the accused could tamper with evidence and threaten or influence the witnesses,” they contended in their argument.
