KOCHI: Ernakulam has strong reasons to hope for an outstanding performance under its tag at the 52nd State School festival being held in Thrissur. Sacred Heart School, Thevara, is leading in the district with 43 points in the higher secondary school category. Though hoping for the best, the teachers and students in the school are not devoid of apprehensions as they are not fully satisfied with judgements.Paulose Kidengen, principal, Sacred Heart School, Thevara, said that he is anxious about the results for it is the first time that the school is forced to file appeals. “It is very unlikely of us. This school never filed an appeal as participants in any youth festivals until now,” he said. The principal said that the increasing number of appeals are a proof that the judgments are not passed with much sincerity. “There exists a hue and cry that appeals should not be allowed in the youth festivals. But I support appealing as it is the only way out for the participants. Owing to such discrepancies, many schools in Ernakulam, which have been giving stellar performances at the youth festivals are opting to stay back,” he said. With four more competitions to be staged in Arabanamuttu, group dance, Kerala Nadanam and Nadodi Nrutham, they are keeping fingers crossed.
