An editorial in China’s state-run Global Times accused India of behaving “shamelessly before the international community” and warned that India will suffer “greater losses than in 1962 if it incites military conflicts”.

India’s relationship with its northern neighbour has sustained a major body blow as the Indian and Bhutanese forces foiled Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s attempts to encroach on a disputed Doklam enclave. This comes less than four years after Chinese troops crossed over into Indian territory in Ladakh by as much as 19kms.

After the Chinese troops were pushed back at Doklam, China responded by suspending the Kailash-Mansoravar yatra through the Nathu La pass. The chinese media, mostly mouthpieces of the ruling Chinese Communist Party even went as far as to bring up the war of 1962.
