A hoax bomb call to the Delhi Metro control room triggered panic among officials on Thursday morning, a security official said.

Hemendra Singh, spokesperson of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), said that an unidentified caller made a call to the control room claiming the possibility of a bomb in a Metro train.

"The caller made the call from a mobile phone at around 10.15 am today (Thursday). Just after receiving the call, we properly searched different Metro trains and Metro stations but it was found to be a hoax," Hemendra Singh said.

"Keeping in view of the twin blasts in a train in Chennai, we have tightened security at all Metro stations.

"There was a little delay on the Inderlok-Rithala line around 11 am. But, it was due to a signal problem not because of the hoax bomb call," he added.

Hemendra Singh said the information regarding the hoax call has been given to the Delhi Police which is looking into the matter.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia said: "We are still trying to find out the caller."

Delhi Metro officials declined to comment.
