HYDERABAD: Notwithstanding the presence of several private schools sporting fancy tags like ‘International’, ‘Concept’ or ‘Techno’ and also having the highest number of students, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts fared miserably for the second consecutive year in the SSC exam, the results of which were announced here on Saturday.While Hyderabad remained at the bottom of the list with just 72.76 pass percentage, its adjoining Ranga Reddy district (ranked 21) got 75.26 pass percentage.Overall, the state-wide pass percentage was 83.1, an increase of 1.47 per cent over the previous academic year. In all, about 8.72 lakh candidates appeared for the SSC public examinations held in March this year. Of these, 27,516 students secured more than 550 marks of 600 marks and obtained ‘A1’ grade. As has been the case in most public examinations this year, girls (83.52 per cent) fared marginally better than boys (82.71 per cent). About 40.03 per cent of private candidates passed the exams.Interestingly, five Telangana districts got placed in the top 10 places, when it came to pass percentages. Karimnagar district topped registering a pass percentage of 91.57 per cent closely followed by Guntur district with 91.32 per cent and Nalgonda district with 89.89 per cent. In all, about 2,562 schools including 88 government schools, 444 Zilla Parishad schools and nine municipal schools got 100 per cent results. On the other hand, about 10 schools including a government school and a ZP school did not have a single student passing the examination. The Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutions Society (APREIS) secured the highest pass percentage (94.3) while municipal schools registered the lowest percentage (69.82). Private schools have 89.14 per cent pass percentage.Secondary Education Minister K Parthasaradhi released the results in the presence of Director of Government Exams Pronoti Suhasini Kavoori and Commissioner of School Education Satyanarayana at the SSC Board’s headquarters in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, Parthasaradhi said that the the Board has introduced a nine-point absolute grading system on the lines of CBSE commencing this year. The marks memo will also have the mother’s name of the candidate along with the father’s name from this year onwards.
