IIIT Basara Students Seek CM’s Intervention Amid Protests Over Infrastructure And Irregularities
MLA Rama Rao Patel has responded to the agitation with an immediate visit to Hyderabad, where he was expected to take the matters to the Chief Minister.

The IIIT (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) College in Basara, in the district of Nirmal, Telangana, is again under a surge of student protests. As per the reports of Local18, the agitation entered its fifth day and the students have moved their protest to the main gate of the institution. Here are all the details related to it.

Local18 reports state that the students are demanding the government to hear and resolve their issues, which has reportedly taken over a decade now. As per more information on the matter, the MLA of Mudhol, Rama Rao Patel has responded to the agitation with an immediate visit to Hyderabad, where he was expected to take the matters to the Chief Minister.

According to the MLA, the issues put forth by the students have not been resolved for the past ten years. Such a dire situation prompted Rama Rao Patel to have an urgent discussion with the Chief Minister.

The students of IIIT College have staged numerous protests in the past few years. As per the reports, the current protests are being done for infrastructure development, better sports facilities and resolution of issues related to the mess. During the earlier protests, the then-public representatives and officials assured the students of the changes they demanded. They failed to resolve the issues, leading to another protest. Now, they are demanding an immediate removal of the current Vice-Chancellor and an appointment of a new person to the post. Furthermore, the students also demand that no vacancies should remain in teaching and non-teaching posts.

Going by more reports by Local18, the students want the CM to order a vigilance inquiry into the alleged irregularities carried out by the VC Venkata Ramana. The demands also include strict action against his secretary Burra Venkatesham, who is claimed to have been involved in the irregularities.
