Located in Mettupatti village, Namakkal district, a farmhouse has particularly grabbed the eyeballs for all the right reasons. Instead of human beings, it is home to several animals including chickens, goats, camels, pigeons, horses and dogs. Built on an area of about 17 acres, the farmhouse belongs to a man named Veera Varadarajan. Even villagers believe that the farmhouse is special and nothing short of an animal sanctuary. Notably, the Mettupatti village is located 12 km away from Namakkal district, located in Tamil Nadu. As reported by Local 18, the architecture of the animal sanctuary is truly astonishing. Further, what’s truly intriguing is that every horse, in the sanctuary, has three foals. Wait, that’s not all. The comparatively taller horses are fed with naturally grown fruits and vegetables whereas their babies are fed with sorghum and grasses. These horses add to the beauty of the sanctuary, capturing the hearts of the visitors and the villagers alike.
As the Local 18 team reached out to Varadarajan asking him the reason behind setting up the animal sanctuary, he gave a reason that was not only touching but proof of his kind approach towards animals. Speaking to the team of the media house, he recalled the time before his father passed away. He shared that his father used to raise pets at home, sheltering them. His kind gesture towards animals led the villagers to build a statue in his memory.
Over time, Varadarajan started travelling to different cities and states, bringing animals and sheltering them in his sanctuary as a tribute to his father. The animal sanctuary is free of any charges, allowing people to visit the same without paying a single penny. The heartwarming act of the man, as he says, is a gesture to express his love for his father, while also contributing to society by rescuing animals and giving them food and shelter.
