New Delhi: According a report, an Iranian censor has banned the very popular messaging app apparently because Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is Jewish.
Haaretz, an Israeli media outlet, reports that ban announced by the secretary of Iran's Committee for Determining Criminal Web Content, Abdolsamad Khorramabadi, who was quoted as saying that "the reason for this is the adoption of WhatsApp by the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is an American Zionist."
In February this year, Facebook announced that it was buying mobile messaging service WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock. This is by far Facebook's largest acquisition and bigger than any that Google, Microsoft or Apple have ever done.
Facebook and Twitter are already banned in Iran since 2009.
