Iraq: Last of US troops prepare to pullout

New Delhi: The last American troops in Iraq are preparing for their complete withdrawal by the end of the month.

This more than eight years after the US invasion which overthrew Saddam Hussein.

Iraqi forces will now assume full responsibility of the country's security.

Sources say only 150 American soldiers are expected to stay back after the December 31 deadline expires.

However, even as they prepare to pull out, there are serious security concerns in Iraq.

Over 22 people were killed when three bombs exploded in the city of Hilla on Monday.

The blasts occured when scores of Shi'ite prilgrims were performing the Ashura ceremony.
