Sources in the I-T Department said they did not get much from probing the others and hence issued summons to Sasikala in the first week of January based on the documents they seized from Jayalalithaa's 'Veda Nilayam' residence.

Responding to the I-T Summons, Sasikala had communicated to the tax officials through the jail authorities that she is on 'maun vrat' till Feb 10 and that she can't speak till then.

I-T Sources said they found incriminating documents from Sasikala's room at Jaya's residence during the searches and that they will question her and record her statement after she finishes her 'maun vrat'.

On November 7, the I-T team conducted searches over 187 locations and called the raids 'a clean money drive'. Sources say, more than Rs 1,400 crore of undisclosed income was unearthed during the search. After scrutinising the documents, they also conducted searches at Jayalaathaa's residence on November 18, 2016 and seized laptops and pen drives and later sealed the two rooms belonging to Sasikala.
