Practising Yogini, author, a beauty pageant aspirant and a banker in her past, Ira Trivedi has seen it all. The author who made her mark at the age of 19 by penning her first book on the dark side of the beauty-industry, What would you do to save the world, was in the city to deliver a talk on leadership skills to the students of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad.Chartering her journey, she shared with the students the importance of setting goals in life and setting out to achieve them. “She delivered an inspiring lecture and shared her experience of raising the bar higher. One of the experiences she shared was on how she took up yoga to increase her low levels of physical fitness and went on to climb 20,000 feet in the Tibetan mountains,” says V. Karthik, a student of B. Tech mechanical engineering at IIT.The author spoke of four tenets to success marked by clarity of goals, being inspired, the courage to dream and to follow it through as the mantra. Encouraging students to bring out the leader in them, Ira shared that it was important to set small goals and to set about working on them. “As a student of MBA at Columbia Business School, I would pen down my secret desires everyday in a notebook and achieving them through the day would make me feel an achiever,” said Ira who stressed the importance of following ones passion to do well in the chosen field. The writer was peppered with questions by the students and faculty members about her journey as a writer and the freedom of expression granted to writers in the country.
