WARANGAL: Minister for IT and Endowments Ponnala Lakshmaiah has directed officials to complete arrangements for Sammakka-Saralamma jatara by Jan 15 next year as the tribal festival is scheduled to be held in February.The minister, along with officials, visited Medaram village in Tadwai mandal on Sunday and reviewed the works. He offered pooja at the ‘gadde’ of the goddesses. He went around the jatara venue and inspected the progress of works.Later, he held a meeting with officials of various departments and enquired them about when they can complete the works. Soon he set the deadline as Jan 15.Speaking to mediapersons, the minister said that Rs 55 crore was being spent by different departments on the arrangements.“We are planning to design a permanent blueprint for the jatara works soon,” he said and added that they were thinking of taking up works, not just for the jatara, but to fulfil various needs of the people.“We are contemplating to built two checkdams in Jampanna vagu which would be useful both to farmers and for the jatara,” he said.“There is no problem even if more checkdams are built and officials were asked to think about it.” But the minister made it clear that none would be spared with regard to quality of works. Reminding that they had earlier proposed for setting up a tribal museum, he said that they could not look into it later due to lack of time.He promised to transform Medaram into a tourist place of historic importance and said that all facilities will be provided for jatara pilgrims. Mahabubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik, collector Rahul Bojja, Vardhannapet MLA K Sridhar and others accompanied him.
