All accused in the case were acquitted in February. Delhi Police asked to explain how probe failed.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday submitted before the Delhi High Court a status report on how investigation in the Jessica Lal murder case was botched up.
A new FIR was in the case lodged on March 6 after a sessions court acquitted all the accused including on February 21.
The court had said that the police had no evidence to prove their hand in any destruction of evidence in the case. The Delhi Police’s special investigation test has been investigating the role of some police officials, forensic scientists and socialite Bina Ramani in this regard. The High Court has set the date for the next hearing on December 14.
Manu Sharma, son of Haryana politician Venod Sharma, allegedly shot dead Lall in a Delhi restaurant on April 30, 1999.
