Bangalore: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy alleged that most ministers in D V Sadananda Gowda’s Cabinet have been working on a percentage basis. They never clear files without getting 10 per cent commission on all works, he charged. He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday before inaugurating the district JD(S) Minority Workers’ Convention ahead of the state-level convention in Bangalore on July 15.
He said that the ministers are also playing a vital role in changing the party leadership. The BJP high command cannot change the political scenario by changing the party leader, he opined. Brushing aside the alleged nexus between JD(S) leaders and Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Kumaraswamy said that JD(S) leaders have never visited Gowda for any matter.
BJP leaders have are making baseless allegations for political gain, he added. He said that he has records of all irregularities in public works and irrigation departments and would expose it at an appropriate time. Crores of rupees have been swindled in the guise of development works by both PWD and irrigation ministers, he added.
'NO CONFIDENCE IN LOKAYUKTA'
Coming down heavily on Lokayukta officials for acting at the behest of the BJP government, Kumaraswamy said that he is not interested in a probe by the Lokayukta in any irregularities as he has no confidence in them. He said that the BJP came to power by airing promises but has failed miserably after four years in office.
“The JD(S) has finalised the candidates of more than 120 constituencies for the upcoming Assembly elections. We will welcome only sincere workers and leaders from other parties and would never request anyone else to join,” he added.
JD(S) MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan said that the Congress has failed to protect the interests of minorities as its MLAs had defeated their own minority candidate Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi. MLC Afsar Agha, H D Revanna and H S Prakash were among those present.
