Thiruvananthapuram: Veekshanam, the mouthpiece of Congress in Kerala, in its editorial has slammed party workers praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Although they did not name Shashi Tharoor in the article, it clearly indicates that it is aimed at the Thiruvananthapuram MP.
"In TV news channel discussions, some people wear the mask of being neutral, but through Twitter they are writing romantic songs for Modi and in Edit pages writing articles praising him. They might be looking at power in the BJP. At Madison Square Garden it was not the victory of Modi, but the victory of great public relations. Taking broom on the Gandhi Jayanti was also such an act. We were shocked to see that those who are meant to be the tongue, (Spokesperson) of Congress is praising Modi. Such statements should not be made by a person who has won a seat, for which the Congress workers had worked hard," read the article.
Tharoor earned the party's ire when he went on to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his comments and on Twitter. Expressing his strong displeasure, KPCC president V M Sudheeran said Tharoor should not be oblivious of the fact that he had been elected on the Congress ticket.
