THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Instead of going in for a haste action, the Kerala Police have decided to study in detail the kind of security cover to be provided to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, before submitting its report to the state government.
A highlevel committee headed by ADGP Venugopalan Nair will prepare a detailed report on the security aspects of the temple which will be submitted to the government next week. DGP Jacob Punnoose told Express that a security audit was being done, the details of which would be discussed by the highlevel committee in the coming days.
City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, who is coordinating the security measures inside and outside the temple, said that presently more than 100 police personnel were stationed outside the temple. ''There is a highlevel committee of six members who will prepare the security requirements of the temple in view of the treasure that has been unearthed. We cannot do something overnight as it is a religious institution that too of historical prominence,'' Manoj Abraham said. A map of the security deployment was also drawn up. Meanwhile, when the inventorying of articles inside the A chamber was completed on Saturday evening, unofficial estimate of the treasure has touched ` 75,000 crore. The preparation of inventory in chamber A had started on Thursday. On Saturday, an 18feetlong 'thanka anki' which is said to belong to Lord Padmanabha was found. An idol of Lord Vishnu studded with precious stones worth Rs 5,000 crore was the other main item discovered. The listing procedure of the remaining items of chamber 'A' was completed by evening.
