While Kerala was struck by the fumes of a hartal called by the CPM following the arrest of P Jayarajan on Wednesday, two senior leaders of the party are undergoing sukhachikilsa (seasonal rejuvenation treatment) at an ayurvedic treatment centre in the neighbouring state.
CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and E P Jayarajan are the top leaders who have come for treatment at Coimbatore Ayurveda Pharmacy at Ramanathapuram.
Checked in on Tuesday, the leaders have been found relaxing on the premises of the pharmacy on Thursday. The veteran leaders had booked for the treatment in advance.
According to a pharmacy source, the leaders will be undergoing treatment for around two weeks. Kodiyeri is said to have accompanied Jayarajan who comes to the pharmacy for treatment every year.
Jayarajan had been regular for treatment at the centre after he was shot on board the Rajdhani Express on April 12, 1995.
Sources said that former Kannur district secretary of the party P Sasi, who was expelled from the party the last year, had also been at the centre while he was facing a probe on harassment charges.
