HUBLI: Karnataka State Cricket Academy (KSCA) has decided to train 1,500 children interested in cricket, stated KSCA chairman and former international cricketer G R Vishwanath.Addressing a press conference after inaugurating the summer cricket training camp at KSCA Ground in Raj Nagar here on Monday, he said that training camps will be held at five centres in Bangalore and in 26 districts of the state. Selected candidates will be provided with cognitive video-based training in Hubli, Mysore, Raichur, Tumkur, Mangalore and Shimoga zonal centres, he added.He stated that the training camps include matches in their schedule. Regarding the alleged discrimination against North Karnataka candidates, he clarified that KSCA is organising statewide camps to recognise talents irrespective of region."We will conduct Ranji matches in Hubli also after completion of the ongoing work in the stadium’’, he affirmed.Vishwanath felt that there is no harm to cricket because of Twenty20 matches. They provide further opportunities to players who get adjusted to all types of matches, he added. He announced that the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the academy will commence work in June 2012.
