BANGALORE: In a major reshuffle of the city police, 1,700 policemen of and below the rank of sub-inspectors were transferred on Saturday.
The changes have been made after the senior police officials held counseling meetings with the staff in a bid to improve and strengthen the functioning style of the police. Among the transferred policemen, 204 head constables who have been promoted to the rank of assistant sub-inspectors and 204 constables who have been promoted to the rank of head constables are included.

Overall, 161 PSIs, 231 ASIs, 606 head constables and 702 constables have been transferred. This is the major reshuffle made in the city police since 2009, where around 1900 policemen were transferred.
