Lawyer makes unbiased film on Salem
Lawyer makes unbiased film on Salem
After Gangster, Bollywood is gearing up for another flick on Abu Salem and this time it is none other than his lawyer himself.

Mumbai: After consistently being in the eye of the public and the police, underworld don Abu Salem's life will soon sizzle up the silver screen.

Bollywood is all set to make a potboiler on Salem — with half a dozen songs, and a budget, which will run into crores. The film is yet to be titled, but will go on floor in 60 days.

Salem had earlier slapped a notice on filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and asked him to destroy the prints of his forthcoming film, Gangster, which was believed to be inspired by the don's life. But, now, he has permitted Sarla Sarogi, the wife of his lawyer Ashok Sarogi, to produce a film based on his life.

“Producers are always on the lookout for new interesting subjects, especially if they are to do with famous people. People are always curious about their lives,” Sarla Sarogi said.

The film will be directed by noted Bollywood director N Chandra, who has to his credit many films like Tezaab to the recent comic flick Style.

The film will be a true-life account of Salem with a dash of entertainment, Chandra said, who hopes to interact with the don soon.

“I will try to interact with Salem with Mr Sarogi, plus there are people connected to him. The kind of life he has had in the glamour world with powerful men and women around himwith that entertainment is inevitable,” Chandra said.

According to Chandra, the film will be a typical Bollywood masala film but will refrain from glorifying the life of Abu Salem.

Considering the threat that the don allegedly was to Bollywood, coming from the same film fraternity Chandra's challenge is to portray an unbiased perspective.
