Thiruvananthapuram: Accusing the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front ( LDF) of holding a ‘communal campaign’ during the assembly elections in Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the front will pay a heavy price for this on Wednesday.
"LDF would pay a heavy price for their communal campaign", he said in the concluding part of ‘Jamavidhi-2006’ organised by Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust.
"CPI (M) has thrown into winds its principles for a few votes in the polls", he alleged and added that joining hands with Abdul Nazer Madhani's PDP, Jamat-E-Islami and Indian National League were clear indication of LDF having moved away from its principles.
LDF failed to trigger an 'anti-government wave' in the state and could not even raise any major allegation against the five-year rule of the UDF government during the campaign, Chandy said.
Exuding confidence in UDF's return to power in the state, Chandy said UDF government's "pro-development agenda would help it win the hearts of the people". he said.
On the exit-poll predictions, Chandy said, "It was better to wait till May 11, the day of counting.”
