Maharajas College protests over dirty drains

KOCHI: The students of Maharaja’s College, on Wednesday, staged a protest march and dharna in front of the Corporation office, demanding the cleaning of the canals and drains that pass through the college campus. The two groups led by the SFI and KSU took out separate marches. The students also sat in protest in front of the Mayor’s chamber.The leaders of both the students’ union said that though they had complained several times to the Corporation authorities about the bad state of the drains which are covered with damaged slabs, the authorities were yet to take any action.The college development committee had submitted a report to the  Collector on the steps needed to clean the campus.  The students alleged that though the Collector had forwarded the report to the Corporation, the civic body was yet to take any action.
