New Delhi: One of biggest habitats of the Asian elephant is under threat as a major fire broke out at the Rajaji National Park in Hardwar on Friday. No casualties have been reported yet.
The fire broke out at 8 pm in the evening and is still raging. The cause of the fire is still not known. The Rajaji park is in the Shivaliks range and is known as the north western limit of the Asian elephant. This place is very close to the venue of the Mahakumbh mela.
All the pilgrims going on the Chandi bridge are now being frisked and any lighter or matchbox is being taken away because the fire that broke out was due to some match.
As far as the wildlife is concerned, such fires are a common phenomenon in the Shivaliks during these months, because there hasn't been any rainfall, there is lot of biomass which can easily catch fire.
The fire is now moved inside the jungle, it is following the track where it is finding wood, humus and it is outside human interface now. Such fires are a common phenomena during summers in this area.
Fire in Delhi container depot:
A major fire broke out in Tughlakabad area of Delhi on Saturday morning as about 32 fire tenders have rushed to the area. The fire broke out around 5.45 am.
Nearly 100 firemen with 32 fire tenders are pressed into service. None of the containers in the depot has been affected. No injuries so far also though lot of goods have been destroyed in the fire which is estimated to worth Rs 50-60 lakh. But the prime concern is to put it off which could still take a couple of hours.
Jaipur fire:
Another major fire broke out at a foam factory at the Rajasthan State Development and Industrial Corporation at Bagru near Jaipur. More than 15 fire tenders are trying to control the fire from hitting two large LPG containers nearby. No casualties have been reported yet.
