For once, the limelight was not on beautiful actress Trisha.Launching the 2012 calendar of the Chennai Adoption Drive, an animal welfare organisation, the actress shared the spotlight with the attractive pink and blue calenders. The calenders, designed by Murali Anand, come in two varieties, for both dog and cat lovers. The calender for dog lovers is called Miracles with Paws and the one for feline lovers is Phatcat. Trisha, who has previously been associated with two of the successful drives of the NGO, said that since she had adopted her own pet mongrel Cadbury, she hasn't found a better best friend. “I hope people come forward and foster puppies, I wish they are more aware,” said the actress at Amethyst Cafe, Royapettah, when she unveiled the larger versions of the calenders, on Sunday. Founded by animal lovers Anuradha Manish Chawla and Jennifer Jacob, the Chennai Adoption Drive aims at spreading the word about the joys in adopting Indian dogs. “We have made the illustrations as cute and neutral as possible,” says Murali. He informs, “Since we were on a very tight budget, we could only opt for pin-up calenders and printed 1,000 copies in the first lot.” On the day the calendar was launched, the team managed to sell over 25 calenders, two of which were ones signed by Trisha. “We are hoping to auction off the big calenders that Trisha unveiled and signed for a good price,” says Murali. The Chennai Adoption Drive will sell the calenders for a price of `50 and the ones autographed by Trisha (Which she did with much gusto and involvement) for `500. The calenders are a part of the organisation's fundraising efforts. The funds will be used to sterlise stray animals and also meet the other needs of the rescued animals.
