Ghaziabad: Two days after she went missing, Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna has been traced, police has claimed. DGP Uttar Pradesh Javed Ahmed said she called her brother on Friday morning and told him that she is safe. She has also said that she is in Panipat and is on her way back to Delhi.
The DGP said that the girl will reach Delhi in the next 30 minutes and the police will meet and take her statement after that. The police is not yet confirmed whether it was a case of kidnapping.
An intensive search operation had been launched after the 25-year-old woman went missing from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night. The girl, who is a Snapdeal employee, was last seen near the Vaishali Metro station area before she went missing.
Along with ten teams of the Ghaziabad Police, Snapdeal had tweeted with the hashtag #HelpFindDipti from its official account seeking help from public to find Dipti.
Deepti's sister Neha Sarna said that before she went missing, she last spoke to a friend from Bengaluru and was heard shouting at an auto driver for taking a wrong turn.
City SP Salman Taj Patil said that Dipti was on her way from Vaishali metro station to the old bus stand of Ghaziabad where her father Narendra Sarna, a resident of Kavi Nagar, was waiting to pick her up.
Sarna told the police that when the auto crossed the Hindon river bridge, Deepti called him and gave him the location. She was also heard shouting at the auto driver for taking a wrong route, he said, adding thereafter her phone was switched off.
Upon information, police swung into action and launched a manhunt to search the girl.
Intervening in the matter, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, instructed the Ghaziabad SSP to personally head the search operation. "UPCM @yadavakhilesh has instructed SSP GZB to personally head the search operation of #HelpFindDipti. Several teams formed," said a tweet on his official Twitter handle.
