Mohali drug haul: Peddler Kahlon remanded to police custody
Three other accused in the smuggling network, Kulwinder Singh, Sandeep Singh and Kuldeep Singh have also remanded till March 16.

Chandigarh: Anup Singh Kahlon, the key accused in the Mohali drug bust, was on Wednesday remanded to police custody till March 16. Anup Singh Kahlon was arrested after over 30 kg of heroin was found in his house on the outskirts of Chandigarh. The drugs recovered are worth over Rs 130 crore. Meanwhile, three other accused in the smuggling network, Kulwinder Singh, Sandeep Singh and Kuldeep Singh have also remanded till March 16.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Punjab Police threatened to move court against boxer Vijender Singh who has refused to give his blood and hair samples for testing. Sources said that the Olympics bronze medallist was not cooperating with the probe.

On Tuesday, Vijender had announced that he was ready to give his samples to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), instead of the police. Sources said that Vijender was reluctant as the police team had lacked a doctor and was not properly prepared to test him. He also had refused to sign a statement prepared by the Punjab Police as it was in Punjabi and the boxer said that he could not read it. No evidence has been found so far indicating his involvement in the racket.

Vijender's partner Ram Singh, now in police custody, had admitted earlier that the two took drugs in the past taking them to be food supplements.

Meanwhile, the police continue in their search for the kingpin of the racket, boxer-turned-actor Jagdish Bhola, who is absconding.
