Madhya Pradesh government has decided to increase the retirement age of labourers and other employees working in private sector to 60 years from current 58 years.
"The state government has issued a gazette notification regarding this decision which will benefit over 15 lakh employees working in the private sector," state Labour Commissioner KC Gupta in a statement in Indore.
The decision was taken under the 100-day special scheme of the Labour Department and the government amended relevant laws after consulting industrial units and workers unions.
However, the decision will not be applicable to those employees who are working under various corporations and undertakings of the state government.
