KOCHI: A special savings account scheme exclusively for State Government teachers has been introduced by the Punjab National Bank. The scheme, PNB Shikshak Savings Account, will be a zero-balance account with no charges. Teachers will be provided with ATM/debit cards and add-on-cards, if required, along with free personalised cheque books. Transfer of funds to other bank accounts anywhere in the country through RTGS/NEFT will not be charged.There will be concessions in interest rates for car/housing loans, locker rent and documentation/processing charges. There is also an option for availing one month’s salary in advance as overdraft, said K V Rajesh, circle head of the bank.The bank also offers a Rs 1 lakh mediclaim policy to account holders with a lowest premium of `1,717.
