HYDERABAD: An unidentified person attacked a nurse of the ayurvedic hospital located on the premises of the Government Unani Hospital, popularly known as the Tibbi Hospital, in the wee hours of Friday and snatched away her gold ornaments. The nurse suffered knife injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.Renuka, aged around 30 years, works in the Ayush wing of the ayurvedic hospital.The hospital is run from a building in the unani hospital opposite Mecca Masjid.According to the Moghalpura police, Renuka was sleeping in the rest room when an unidentified person forced his way inside. He demanded Renuka give him her gold chain. As Renuka resisted, the intruder attacked her with a knife and fled with three-tola gold chain.“Renuka suffered multiple injuries on her body,’’ Moghalpura inspector Syed Fayyaz said. The nurse suffered injuries on her fingers, hands and other parts of the body.Police said the intruder, perhaps aged aroung 25, masked his face and spoke in Telugu. The incident happened around 3.30 a.m when Renuka was on night duty. Except for a few patients, no hospital staff were presented there at the time.“There is a security guard deployed at the hospital. He, however, did not turn up for duty yesterday night,’’ the inspector said.Police suspect the role of a person known to the nurse or someone who knows the layout of the hospital.
