Nirupama Rao lays stone for PU building

PUDUCHERRY: Indian  Ambassador to the United States Nirupama Rao on Friday laid the foundation stone for an International Convention centre at the Pondicherry University.The convention centre would be built at a cost of `46 crore and would have a capacity to seat 2,500 persons.She was shown the blueprint of the centre by vice chancellor J A K Tareen and other officials of the university who were  present on the occasion. Later, she also interacted with some of the faculty of the university.Nirupama Rao was in Puducherry to participate in the convocation of the Pondicherry University on Saturday where she would be the chief guest.
