Keran: Army Chief General Bikram Singh on Tuesday said that it was a desperate infiltration bid in Keran, which has been foiled, and not an intrusion. He also said that the Army commander will soon address the media on the latest developments in the Keran operation.
This comes amidst reports that the Army is likely to declare the Keran operation over on Tuesday or Wednesday. "The Army commander will speak to TV shortly and give out details. Let us wait for him," General Bikram Singh said.
"A large number of channels have talked about this being an intrusion. This is not. If this was intrusion, the adversary would have gone and occupied dominating ground which is defensible. Which adversary is going to dominate an area by sitting in the 'naala' (riverlet). It was an infiltration bid, which has been foiled."
Army sources say that the bodies of 15 terrorists killed may have either been dragged across the LoC, dropped in crevasses or buried in the thick jungles.
The Army had earlier released aerial pictures of the terrorists killed at the Line of Control during the operation. It also made a massive recovery of arms and ammunition from the infiltrators.
The Army had on Monday said the area is cordoned off and it will launch a final push as soon as the terrorists make a mistake.
