No preference for foreign buyers: TAMIN

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN) is not proposing to give up its decision to establish industrial units for manufacture of graphite concentrate and finished products . No preferential treatment will be given to foreign buyers, Additional Advocate-General (AAG) S Gomathi Nayagam told the Madras HC, last week. And recording the submission, the first bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam disposed of a public interest writ petition from M Gowrishankaran, on August 16 last. AAG Gomathi Nayagam submitted that TAMIN would not grant any preference to foreign buyers. TAMIN was actively pursuing the notification dated March 31 calling for’ expression of interest’ for setting up the factory for manufacture of finished products from the prospective promoters. The graphite concentrate could be supplied to the promoter only after establishing a state-of-the-art factory by the promoter, he added. The bench recorded the submissions and disposed of the writ petition.
