Norms violated for Darshan

BANGALORE: Many film personalities met actor Darshan who was shifted to an ICU of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) early on Saturday morning violating the rules and regulations as the authorities remained mum.According to the rules to be followed regarding the accused in judicial custody, whenever an inmate of the prison is shifted to a hospital, the prison staff will escort him to the hospital in emergency situations.They will pass on the matter to City Armed Reserve (CAR) police asking them to make adequate security arrangements for the accused.And it is the responsibility of the CAR police to ensure that nobody meets the accused without prior permission from the medical superintendent of the hospital.However, in Darshan’s case, it was evident that he was surrounded my most of his friends and fans when he was taken to NIMHANS, Victoria Hospital and RGICD and there were minimal prison staff.Apparently, he was being carried on stretcher by some actors and there were no policemen around.However, after he was admitted in the ICU, CAR police, local police and a KSRP platoon were deployed.But producers Rockline Venkatesh, Munirathna, Jai Jagadish, KCN Chandrashekhar, Sa Ra Govindu, N M Suresh, directors Prem, Naganna, actor Sadhukokila and others easily met the actor in the ICU.Some also made statements on TV channels that they had met the actor, without knowing that they had flouted rules.When Sunday Express contacted RGICD Director Dr Shashidhar Buggi, he said he had not permitted anybody to meet the actor.“As per my knowledge, nobody met the actor as he is in ICU.But, I am not sure about whether anybody met him,” he stated.Meanwhile, CAR DCP (South) M B Naidu maintained that it was duty of the local police to ensure the safety of the accused.Chief Superintendent of the Central Prison Lakshminarayana said that it was CAR’s responsibility to make sure nobody meets him without permission.
