The SC on Monday denied the bail application of Dr Binayak Sen.
New Delhi: In a setback for civil rights activists who have been fighting for the release of Dr Binayak Sen, the Supreme Court on Monday denied the bail application of Dr Sen.
Dr Sen is the General Secretary, People's Union for Civil Liberties, (Chhattisgarh ) and Vice President, People's Union For Civil Liberties (National).
He was arrested on May 14, 2007 under the under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 2004 and Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act 2006.
Currently he is lodged in Raipur jail. Dr Sen is accused of being a Naxalite.
His arrest and detention has been widely condemned by civil rights activists across the country.
It is ironical as this judgment comes on the Human Rights Day.
