BHUBANESWAR: Orissa Knowledge Corporation has proposed to launch a course to spread IT literacy among all sections of the society including students, professionals, businessmen, women, senior citizens and government employees.The proposal was conveyed to the Board of Directors of the Corporation at a recent meeting, official sources said today.One IT training programme for primary, secondary and higher secondary teachers and another Digital Saheli programme for domestic, professional and social empowerment of women were proposed by the Corporation.The corporation also proposed to create a network of 2000 Authorized Learning Centers on PPP mode in different parts of the state for universal accessibility of theses programmes at low cost.Among other proposals, the corporation wanted programmes like Digital University, World Academy for Vocational Excellence to be launched in partnership with the government universities and private sectors.Sources said that different programmes of the Corporation will be framed in technical collaboration with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation in the first phase.Meanwhile, Vivek Sawant, Managing Director of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation made presentations on proposed e-learning and e-empowerment programmes at a high level meeting here.The proposal for innovative learning material for primary schools, creation of Orissa Knowledge Cloud for inter-linking computers of various centers of learning, assessment and talent nurturing of students, near about 400 IT based skill development programmes for empowering rural women were discussed in the meeting.
