HYDERABAD: The Revolutionary Democratic Front (RDF) on Monday at the end of their two-day national conference decided to continue their struggle against the imperialistic and capitalistic policies and actions of the government. The Front also decided to create a mass movement on the prevailing economic crisis into a revolutionary upsurge, demand an immediate halt to Operation Green Hunt and withdrawal of armed forces from Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state. The RDF could not conduct a procession and a public meeting at Dharna Chowk as Hyderabad police did not give them permission. The reported reason was there was a strong possibility that Maoists and anti-nationals would participate. The RDF has categorically condemned the police department’s stand and terming them as “radicals” and “fundamentalists”.Varavara Rao, revolutionary poetwriter stated that conducting a rally or procession is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Indian constitution.“But here the fundamental rights are being violated by the government itself,” he said.Prof G Haragopal, human rights activists said, developing countries like India, defined as pre-capital societies are free to look within and find an answer to the crises. They can advance to higher levels by changing some internal dynamics, for example, addressing land-centric issues and acknowledging and freeing new classes of displaced labour. He further said, a capitalistic country would become a country only for capitalists and not for social welfare and for the poor.Syed Ali Shah Geelani of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Jammu and Kashmir, Professor Anand Teltumbde from IIT, Kharagpur, PA Sebastian from Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights, professor Shoma Sen from Committee Against Violence on Women, G Kalayana Rao from Revolutionary Writers’ Association, professor A Bhumaiah from Telangana Praja Front and former National Commissioner for SCs and STs BD Sharma were among those present. On the occasion, a collection of writings and CD containing revolutionary songs were released and distributed.
