Petition filed against VS for false testimony

KOCHI: A petition has been filed before the Kerala High Court against Opposition Leader VS Achutanandan alleging a willful act of swearing a false testimony before the court.Petitioner Kolakadan Moosa Haji of Kozhikode submitted that Achuthanandan had given false information in his petition seeking CBI inquiry into the new revelations in the sensational ice cream parlour case. “Achuthanandan is liable for perjury in view of his affidavit, which stated that copies of the documents were original. But he procured the confession statement illegally and produced before the court. There is a prohibition in law for providing confession statement to anybody,” the petitioner said.“Achuthananadan had abused his powers as the then Chief Minister and had allegedly procured the confession statement of K A Rauf in connection with the case. He interfered in the investigation by taking the copies of the case diary and he used to give regular instructions to the investigating agency. While he was the Chief Minister, he used to have regular meetings with Rauf and discussed how to proceed with the case,” the petitioner pointed out.
