Police geared up for Deepavali

PUDUCHERRY: Adequate police personnel will be deployed in the region to ensure safety, ahead of Deepavali,which would be celebrated on October 26, said Superintendent of Police (North) N T Sivadasan on Tuesday.Sivadasan said that about 150 police would be deployed at key junctions to regulate the traffic and crowds, which is expected to increase in the run up to the festival.Police teams, each led by a sub-inspector and comprising seven constables, will keep watch for chain snatchers and anti-social elements, he said, and added that STF personnel would roam in plain clothes to ensure additional safety.
