HYDERABAD: Power shortages could soon be a thing of the past. The state government, during the ongoing twoday CII Partnership Summit, said it would sign multiple MoUs with public and private sector companies to set up power plants, based on coal and gas, across the state involving an aggregate investment of `2 lakh crore.
"All these projects will be spread across the state,"said Dinesh Kumar, the state's principal secretary for energy. In the public sector, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up a 4,000 mw plant and AP Genco another with a capacity of 9,760 mw. Similarly, AP Power Development, a subsidiary of AP Genco, will set up a 2,200 mw plant, while Singareni Colleries Company Ltd is planning one based on coal to produce 1,200 mw in Adilabad district.
