BANGALORE: Karnataka Sexual Minorities Forum is organising a march on May 17 to spread awareness about the concerns of transgenders among people. On Thursday, they are planning to demand for the inclusion of transgenders in Backward Class list and to provide employment to gender minorities in all government departments.While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, a member of this organisation, Veena, said: “Gender minorities include Jogappas, Hijras, Kothis, female to male and male to female transpersons. We are discriminated in all fields. Hence we have to resort to begging and sex work to fill our stomachs.” She alleged that in 2010, the State Government had agreed to implement the recommendations of C S Dwarkanath Commission to include transgenders in the Backward Class Category, to give minority pension of `400, employment training, and provision for voter ID card, among other things. But they were not implemented, she said.
